Description
The Longbow is a one-man crewed, multi-role artillery unit, built around a rotating self-loading ammunition chamber, in much the same manner as a revolver of old Earth. The Crossbow meanwhile takes a more direct approach, armed with a high powered laser, it can be used as a sniping support unit.
It’s a 2-for-1 sale on artillery support units! Both the Longbow and Crossbow are excellent choices, filling slightly different roles. The Longbow Howitzer is an excellent light artillery piece, armed with Indirect Armour Piercing Shells, Daisy Cutter Shells, and even Smart Smoke for obscuring friendly units. Meanwhile the Crossbow is a direct fire weapon which has the ever-loved Destroyer rule, and helpfully cannot have its Accuracy modified more than +2 – meaning you’ll get to use that Destroyer bonus all the time!

Longbow Howitzers Description
The Longbow is a one-man crewed, multi-role artillery unit, built around a rotating self-loading ammunition chamber, in much the same manner as a revolver of old Earth. On the Longbow, this can be rotated to select one of three different rounds; armour penetrating (anti-tank), high explosive blast (anti-light vehicle/ structure) and Smart Smoke.
Smart Smoke can be dispersed over friendly units to screen them from enemy fire or can be used offensively to disrupt enemy fire. It’s a particularly innovate creation from the UCM experimental Sci-Tech labs, as it carries an exothermic component to skew thermal imaging. The round also delivers micro-drones, which facilitate the instant breakdown of the smoke on command, allowing friendly shielded units to open fire with a clear view when needed.
The Longbow is designed to be carried into the fray by the Raven-B Light Dropship, giving UCM commanders the flexibility and speed needed to deploy and re-deploy at speed. It is surprisingly large (slightly larger than a Sabre MBT) for a Raven-B portable unit, a fact which can be explained by its relatively low combat weight and modest armour protection.

Crossbows Description
Like its sister unit the Longbow, the Crossbow was designed as a light artillery piece – ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice to support armoured attacks and insertions. However the Crossbow has a much more specific focus, and is used for direct support and interdiction.
Armed with a high powered laser (similar to that of the Scimitar Heavy Tank), it is most often used for flanking anti-armour support. Delivered into place by nimble Raven dropships, it can easily fire and manoeuvre, taking its cue from the light skirmish infantry of ancient Earth. Positioned as a sniping support unit, it burns enemy units out of hiding in a way that the more lumbering Scimitar cannot.
